| The Brief: |
|
| To install two new generators stacked on two steelwork frames with UPS systems housed below. To facilitate this installation the job first required existing site clearance, the building of a new access roadway with kerbs, pedestrian pathway with wheelchair access, handrails and fencing as well as the repositioning of street lighting and road markings. |
|
| Reinforced concrete support pads were also required to support the necessary structural steelwork, generators and UPS containers. |

| Problems to overcome: |

Because of the stratosphere of the geographical chalk sub-base, the concrete support pads beneath the structural steelwork had to be designed as floating rafts. |
|

| • |
To enable the two 40 ton generator containers to be stacked with the UPS containers housed below them, the structural steelwork with supporting beams had to be sufficient to withstand the weight and any wind and vibration. |
